Meet & Greet January 2025

On January 6, 2025, we brought together BOSS academic coaches, BOSS alumni, Cal State Long Beach College of Engineering students and students from local colleges and universities to learn from professionals representing civic engagement, commercial real estate, data science, engineering, finance, sports & entertainment, sales and technology.
At BOSS, we utilize a Train the Trainer strategy in delivering programming to our scholars and the purpose of the Meet & Greet was to engage our academic coaches and the college students in attendance with professionals to demonstrate the “value add” in serving as a BOSS coach.
The evening at the Long Beach Airport Marriott began with ice breakers before two panels of professionals shared stories around navigating their industries, overcoming challenges and achieving success. The night was capped off with lively networking between the coaches, students and professionals. A key takeaway for the college students was the idea of “becoming comfortable being uncomfortable” which is a cornerstone of our “Emotionally BOSS” pillar.
As Archie Smith from Microsoft said about the networking mixer, “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” Thank you to all the professionals who were able to join us!
